PYRAMIDS
zine, 2024

This publication is a collection of texts that were written for exhibitions, as part of exhibitions, for friends, and in my notebook. All of this writing happened sometime in between 2020 and 2023.

There was a moment during this period of time when I started taking phone pictures of pyramid-like buildings and structures. Once I started looking for them, I began to see them everywhere. Egyptian pyramids were built on the West Bank of the Nile, which as it is the site of the setting sun, was associated with the realm of the dead in Egyptian mythology (Wikipedia). But today pyramids are built all around the world for shopping centers, offices, tourist attractions, and other public and private spaces.

Contradictions that you can’t escape, consistency that defeats the purpose, feelings that break your heart. Stop thinking of useful metaphors. A still life with Ibuprofen and band-aids next to two glasses of water, an empty cup of coffee, worn out notebooks, grocery store receipts, and half-read books. We keep each other close, ok?

LETTERS (2022 & 2025)

An exhibition at the experimental art project oxfordberlin. oxfordberlin is located at the Schillerpark Estate designed by architect Bruno Taut in Berlin, Wedding, and aims to evoke productive thoughts regarding the environment and the access of contemporary art and its interaction with history and living architecture.

For the duration of the exhibition, I sent virtual letters to the e-mail address of the oxfordberlin space. The artists running the space printed out the texts and exhibited them on the announcement board of the estate. The content of the letters focused on my everyday life, whilst being addressed to a place I had never been to and its inhabitants that I had never met.

The project continued in March 2025 with an exhibition organised by oxfordberlin at Linienstraße space in Düsseldorf. For the exhibition, I wrote an eighth letter and it was printed as a photograph.
